"If there is harmony between itself and his own body, a style will be born" - Anna Dello Russo

I'm a twitter crack addict. It's led me to great places like Style.com preview of Tommy Ton's New Anna Dello Russo exhibition. Here are a few of my favourites

I wish I could tell you everything she is wearing, all I know is that they are
A. designer B. Expensive and C. BA-NANAS!

She is OTT, that's why I love her. No fear, just style (and lots of it!) I will try and channel my inner Anna Dello Russo when I attend the Zimmermann SS 2011/12 on monday.  My excitement is insurmountable. eeeeeppppp.

Check out the full preview of Tommy Ton's exhibition here

RUSSH of goodness

Just a few of my favourite pictorials from RUSSH magazine. Jessica Stam & Cassi van Dungen  are just so beautiful! I remember eating breakfast from across the news agency and being completely mesmerised by J.Stam's eyes. I love a good magazine cover especially when it has the right formula of colour, model, styling etc but when the magazine actually has good content you can't find online, buying the mag becomes a no brainer. This issue of RUSSH did that for me, flicking through it just kept getting better! The 10 page or so spread of Jessica Stam & an interview plus a few whimsical pictures of my favourite bad ass - Cassi = my kind of mag.

All images scanned from RUSSH magazine may issue 2011

I came. I saw. I shopped.

This is just a little taste of our love affair with spanish company ZARA. Waking up at 5am, beating the traffic, catching a train & being photographed and interviewed while we waited was a great experience in itself. But WOW! When the doors finally opened, it was on. A stampede of like-minded Zara crazed ladies, clothes literally flying off the racks, stalking staff as they restocked, contemplating if we could take things off the mannequins, no time to think - just grab, and long lines for both the change room & check out...but well worth it! After 2 hours of Zara mayhem we left with a some great buys & a feeling of completion. We will be back -- especially for my leather sleeve camel coat, my size went before you could even click your fingers. Will post pictures of my buys soon, but until then

Picture via the ZARA facebook page, getting interviewed by Amanda Hoh from SMH.

Silver fox

Zara painted knit jumper, Sass&bide rats, lipstick boots, Bangle from Cairns night market, ysl & colette rings.
Can you guess what this lovely artwork is painted on?
What I wore on good friday out to get out seafood pizza. I saw this cool painted thing outside the pizza place and to my surprise its actually an electrical box.  I've actually spotted a few of these around my area. Great way to showcase local artists. Hope you are all having a great easter! I will resume blogging this week, - sorry for the absence I was busy busy busy with work work work. So I'll make it my mission to get my blog back on & even post my ZARA MANIA video from wednesday.

Have a great long weekend Sydney-siders, and to everyone else Happy Easter!

Yesterday's adventure

Yesterday Angelica and I ventured out to the city to enjoy the beautiful sydney sunlight.
Here is how our inspiration day went:
FIRST STOP: The Fabric Store.
The abundance and variety of fabrics always seems to amaze me.
Although only a fabric store every time I walk in I always seem to be able to spend a hour or too there touching fabrics, dreaming up garments, and flicking through fashion magazines for a little dose of inspiration - although being surrounded by fabrics from designers like Lisa Ho, Therese Rawsthorne, and DKNY is pretty inspiring in itself. I think the best thing about being in there is its like an arena of possibilities with all these different fabrics at hand but its up to your own imagination to give it life.

Avocado P/U leather jacket, Glassons singlet, Sass & Bide pants, Lovisa necklace,  Kanzi Bag & Betts boots
NEXT STOP: The Powerhouse Museum
Visiting the powerhouse museum is one of those things you do on school excursions, but having heard about the Bruno Benini Fashion photography exhibition late last year , I made it my mission to visit it before the exhibition closed.
An advertisement for false eyelashes. 5 eggs + false eyelashes = genius.
Photographed by Benini and Styled by his innovative wife Hazel.
Photographed by Benini and Styled by Hazel, Jan Stewart models for Sportsgirl in 1966
The Powerhouse Museum has this great mirror room with ever-changing projections of Benini & Hazel's work.
Along with Benini we made our way to DesignTECH - a showcase of the best  HSC major projects in NSW for Design and Technology in 2010, and Student Fashion that displayed 4 designers/graduates (one each from UTS, Ultimo TAFE, Raffles and Whitehouse) and 2 of their looks from their final collection.
My favourite 2 looks by Anna Westcott from Ultimo TAFE.

Last stop included a trip to Westfield Pitt St: 100 squared, sportsgirl & giving money to the amazing busker that melts my heart... it's love I tell ya!

Had so much fun yesterday and soon enough you will see where my imagination takes those fabrics. Oh and Angelica is also making some very trendy pants in Glazed Linen 0o0o I'll keep you posted. Let the sewing begin!

Rocking the Runway for Westfield

Reading 'Whatever you think, think the opposite' while I waited for history to be made before my eyes. Westfield's biggest runway fashion show had a record of 100 models that displayed more than 70 brands to celebrate the launch of Westfield's online shopping which you can check out here . Go crazy because Westfield is offering free shipping for the next wait for it... TWO WEEKS!
Alyce - The Westfield Insider. She was rocking the pleated maxi skirt, as was I.
The runway showcased great menswear as well as Sydney's finest ;)
Loving the knitted jumper with fitted camel trousers and dusty pink blazer. Great outfit.
Leather shorts have been around for a while, I love them on others but not so much on myself. weird.

Rocking the runway in wedges: Carly & Jess from SYTYCD. Seriously Rocking it!
They came out like Tom Cruise in 'Risky Business' - They got swaaag.

Afterwards I enjoyed some seafood surrounded by Sydney's icons - The Harbour Bridge & The Opera House.
Angelica wears: Raybans, Mimco Earrings, Michael Kors watch, Target Tee & my blazer (she was cold).

I wear: Ashely Fogel blazer, vintage lace top & belt, Gifted Gucci bag, Peter Lang for cue leopard cuff, Sportsgirl broach, Glassons skirt & Betts boots.

By the end of the day I had eaten one too many macaroons, listed 101 more things on my wishlist thanks to 'The Corner Shop and saw my sister's friend Emily from The Little Black Book  who introduced me to two lovely bloggers Genesis from dandysachs and Vanessa from FlipandStyle. It was great to see so many people come and support Westfield. I had such a great day but didn't get to stop by The Fabric Store or The Powerhouse Museum, I'll save that for another adventure.

Printed Spontaneity

Whenever I hang out with my cousin (below right), her spontaneous nature rubs off on me and we always find ourselves doing the most random things - dying our hair, dying fabric, driving across sydney to buy fabric because we've decided we want to be designers, attempting to make garments and driving like it doesn't cost us a cent (fuel is so expensive right now!!). This afternoon we found ourselves burying room with piles of clothes as I styled her. Soon enough we had hit the road, equipped with my camera and these are the results. For this afternoon's shoot I decided to finally reveal to you my crazy creations - the psychedelic printed skirt and the olive high waisted harem pant. These are my simple creations so far but tomorrow after the Westfield Runway Show at Customs House in Circular Quay, I am hoping to get my hands on some leather then venture toward the powerhouse museum to get me some inspiration... not too sure what I will make. What's something simple you think an amateur like me can create? I'll keep you posted on how tomorrow goes, that's it for now though.
Please note: This is not me in the pics, it's my scarily look-a-like little sis who (yes) is taller than me :(

Angelica wears: Temt hat, Cue faux fur collar, Glassons knit top, Vintage belt, Lovisa bangles, Sam Edelman boots and little-ladylove skirt. Jovy wears: thrifted top, En vanite chiffon vest, little-ladylove pants, Forever 21 ring, & Mimco bag.

Have an awesome week

xxo your little lady
