Tinseltown

(Fake) snowing in LA at The Grove

Having a blast in LA, enjoying every second on the streets of Hollywood. Being dropped off in Beverly Dr Beverly Hills instead of Beverly Blvd West Hollywood was possibly the worst and best experience that has happened so far. Feeling lost without a map, without internet and without anyone to ask for directions. Eventually we found a cab and found our way back to WeHo to discover the enormous Beverly Hills Centre. Alone and feeling excited on my first day exploring I splurged a little on my pointed Marants. Can't wait to wear them out - Chateau Marmont, whats up?

Heading off to NYC very soon, so if you've got any must-see places tweet me @littleladyylove

Classic Diane

Dress, Jumpsuit, top, skirt, power adaptor & clock bag all DVF, available on matchesfashion.com
Diane Von Furstenberg - what a label, what a woman. Lets venture back to where it all started with a dress. Not any dress. The iconic wrap dress. It is impossible to talk about Diane von Furstenberg without paying homage to the design that she brought to life in 1972. This simple idea started Diane’s reign over the fashion scene and is still as popular as ever 40 years later. In the Seventies this dress was a symbol for women’s liberation which is no surprise with Diane’s empowering self-loving mottos.

I personally love seeing what she has created every season and how she reinvents her original wrap dress design. Print. I think it's all in her print. It's bold, feminine and classic. I feel like whether your 20 and going to a job interview, 35 and catching up with some friends, or 50 and celebrating the big Five-Oh, Diane has something for you. It may be her eye-catching individual prints, her classic shapes or quirky accessories you are drawn to, but this lady knows how to dress a woman and rightly so - she is one stylish lady herself.

Oh Diane, teach me your ways.

Just too Goot to be true

"I'm a slave for you" was possibly the soundtrack of my life leading up to my little sisters graduation ball. I'm not going to lie, I did enjoy the dress sourcing, makeup-booking, planning and errand running that was involved. But lets just stop and talk about my favourite part of the entire process - dress shopping! It all started with an idea and originally Angelica had her eyes set on this Carla Zampatti gown but after many hours of looking through racks of dresses we forgot about the gown and landed ourselves exploring beautiful lace dresses from Lover in The Strand Arcade.

At that point, I had voted for the Wiccan lace dress on the left, dad and mum voted for the Serpent dress in the middle but the mini Wiccan dress in black was just so chic and Angelica was left tangled in-between all her intricately detailed choices. We left Lover feeling undecided and headed to The Intersection on Paddington's Oxford St to visit the newly opened Josh Goot store.
With images of Vogue Fashion editor Christine Centenera wearing what I thought was a dress from Josh Goot's resort collection (see here), I instantly thought - Angelica! It was elegant, fun and everything I knew Angelica would love. Initially she had her doubts about wearing a corset and skirt, but upon seeing the Flower Bomb corset in-store she was drawn to it like a mouse is to cheese! They may not have had her size in-store, she may have barely even tried it on, but she knew she had found the one. To say she decided in an instant is an understatement.

My next mission was to find a perfectly draped black skirt with a split, jewellery and heels to complete her look. In the end we kept it simple and styled it back with a black Stylestalker skirt from The Iconic, Mimco earrings, Zara clutch and Topshop heels. We did buy this Peter Lang necklace, but ditched it last minute for Angelica's favourite earrings instead.

It was a beautiful day (for her). While she was getting her hair upstyled at Renya Xydis I was wishing I got mine done too buying her blueberries, bandaids and formal underwear - yes please nominate me for greatest sister of the year. And while she got dolled up in her Lana-Del-Ray inspired look at Illamasqua I ran out to Pandora to buy her best friend a little 'I'm sorry - blame the HSC, but I forgot to order you a corsage' present.

She just looked so beautiful! My little munchkin is all grown up & I'm so proud!

Tarty dressing 101

When you stay up during fashion month on Style.com filtering through each designers runway looks and eagerly waiting for the next to be uploaded, it is every bit likely that one would not know where to begin when describing their favourite looks. But after (weeks) of not blogging in deep thought of what I wanted to post, it came to me in my (wishful) reoccurring stylistic choices of late. Tartan, I want to wear tartan all day long! Dries Van Noten stole my heart with his wrap style tartan dress layered over the tartan shirt, finished off with rolled up sleeves. After venturing into the depths of my closet it was revealed to me - I have no tartan print - none, zero, z i l c h. It turns out Aussie retailers don't have too much of it either, well not yet anyway. To get myself inspired I turned to ye ol' online faithful ASOS, Topshop and River Island and found myself in Tartan heaven. (However for visual reasons only, I left out the ASOS pieces - why don't they flat lay their product pics? C'mon Asos, help a sister out!!)

The first look on the left was inspired by the edgy rocker in me - although by connotation tartan is quite edgy so I couldn't really side step that one, but I added the stripe Tee by J.W Anderson x Topshop, Ksubi leather vest and gold metallic 3.1 Phillip Lim boots to compliment the Tartan trousers by River Island for the ultimate rocker-chic vibe. Tartan + Stripe + Leather + Gold = What more could you want?

I wanted to try to soften the tartan look like Dries Van Noten and Phillip Lim did in their latest collections. So I give you outfit 2 and 3.

Outfit 2 (Center) Starting with the Topshop tartan blazer and Ksubi Jing shorts - feel free to insert your own top here, I'm thinking possibly a lace bra from Cotton On under a Bassike tank or Paisley Topshop peplum blouse if that is more your liking. What do you think?
Pair the look back with simple Tony Bianco heels, beautifully beaded ASOS iridescent clutch and a popping red lip. My personal fav red lip is YSL's Rouge Pur Couture in 13 or Russian Red by MAC. So much love for red lipstick!

Outfit 3 (Right) This is a subtle take on using Tartan especially if the print is a bit too much to handle, although for me I don't think this would ever be the case. It would more so be if my friends realised I was repeatedly wearing the tartan pants or Blazer more times than.. 1 10. I'd still creep the tartan print in with some cute loafers to off set the sexy Topshop Boutique Mini skirt and Khaki Bassike top - obsessed with Khaki and Tartan together - they are like Ying and Yang. To keep the look fresh I've added a season must-have: the reflector iridescent sunglasses and equally cool ASOS earrings. You like?

Viola! There you have it, 3 takes on tartan. How will you wear it?

Cara.

If there's one thing every designer had caught on to, it would be - Cara Delevingne. Dominating the catwalks from Jason Wu to DSquared to Preen, to Moschino, Marchesa, Thakoon, Mary Katrantzou, Topshop Unique and Burberry - just to name a few, she IS the Model of the Moment on and off the runways. No doubt the street style photographers and bloggers were at a frenzy when she stepped onto the streets. It's those dark eyebrows, the cheeky poses, and that mesmerising blue steel.

Wisteria

With my dad's overflowing garden that has become very 'secret garden' lately, I've fallen in love with the lilac purple of the wisteria that is blossoming so beautifully. We used to have a giant wisteria tree that towered over our front garden, each year it would transform our grass into a sea of purple once all the flowers had dropped. It was a truly magical sight. Taking inspiration from that, I put together this outfit mixed with white, spearmint and a hint of metallic detailing.

Vintage jacket | Silk tank from Sportsgirl | Bassike slouch jersey pants | J.W Anderson x Aldo heels

These pants have been my go-to pants in this spring weather and this was the outfit I wore when I met Christine Centenera a few weeks ago. Beside falling in love with the colour of these spearmint pants, I love the cut of them as well - it's a little bit ghetto fab meets hippie chic. If NYC wasn't my no.1 priority right now I'd been dropping low for a similar style by Bassike but in - linen and leather. Hands down, comfiest pants I own. Who wants to wear skinny jeans when you've got the perfect mix of draped cotton and fitted bottoms?

Big love to Metaxia for all her photography skills. Check out her beautiful work here or here

Young blood

I was really excited to do a test with my friend Makai and Metaxia - I mean by just going off their unique names it was going to be a fun experience. Strutting through a car park, creating make-shift 'wardrobe space', hoping that our stuff wouldn't get stolen and listening to frank ocean and a few other artists to get Makai's swag going. I was not only appointed stylist but also model coach for the day, and for those who have been on shoots before you know how easy it is to try and copy the model and show them what kind of look you want. Now just imagine how stupid I looked. I'm definitely no model but I couldn't stop myself from pulling masculine poses and walking like I had swag dripping off me.
The end result was cool, Metaxia worked her magic and Makaii worked his. What do you think of our little collaboration? Makaii is a fresh face and an unsigned one, he's done well for his first ever shoot.

xo your little Lady,

B

Spring back into business

Loafers, loafers, loafers. Let's get down to business, these are some serious contenders this Spring. With Sydney weather not really deciding what it wants to be, loafers are that happy medium that lies between Winter booties and Summer sandals. Best thing? Loafers are now being reinvented in modern metallics and edgy embellishments equalling Grandpa-chic! My favourites have to be the purple goodness from Jil Sander and fringed patent shoes from (I assume) loafer heaven by Chloe. Simply stunning!

The other stylish footwear include from L-R, Acne, Lanvin, YSL and Jeffrey Campbell

Nichloas Kirkwood is also a top player in the Loafer design game. These are just incredible.

On trend checklist: Metallic, tick. Print-of-some-sort, tick. Pop of colour, tick. Well played Kirkwood, well played!

I feel your Ora.

Peek - a - boo. I've seen you? Yes this girl Rita Ora has been circulating the magazines, and style sites for some time now. She's been pinned as The One to Watch and rightly so. With hits that make you want to ...party and bullish*t and style that has Air Jordan's prescribed, this starlet has girls flocking to they're boyfriends (or in my case brother's) wardrobes stealing their beanies and bomber jackets.

Besides her 'what nationality am I' mystique and being Rihanna's  doppelganger , this British-born Albanian beauty has talent! Rocking my world as well as Rob Kardashian ASOS's too - being the most recent Cover girl for their September issue.

I think I've discovered her style and it comes down to this, so listen up.
Rita Ora formula: Feminine silhouettes paired back with masculine shoes (give Jordan's or ghetto Timberlands a try), statement jackets and ravishing red lips.

Here she poses as everyone's favourite hipster, rocking the camo trend like no other hipster has ever done before. She makes me want a camo print jacket, beanie, scarf, socks, shoes, pants, leggings and even possibly peroxide blonde hair - the power of The Ora (jokes on the last one... I'd be Asian orange if I tried). But no worries, give that Camo trend a try with Topshop carrying some great pieces, Carhartt, Ksubi and Asos here, here or here

R.I.P to the girl you used to see, her days are over. I want to be Rita Ora.

View the complete Rita Ora feature here and shop her outfits. Gosh ASOS makes it easy!

P.s Kudos to those who got my Rita Ora references ;)
